He also has played on recent recordings by vocalist Jackie Allen such as The Men in My Life (Blue Note 2003), Love is Blue (Blue Note 2004), Tangled (Blue Note 2006), as well as her new release with orchestra entitled, Starry Night (2009) .

He has played nationally and internationally at numerous festivals, clubs and concert halls and has performed with artists such as Eddie Harris, Bob Mintzer, Kurt Elling, Paul McCandless, Lyle Mays, Paul Wertico, Gary Burton, Niels Orsted Pederson and Terry Callier.

Pete Miller's is one of my favorite venues to perform. Great sound system, well maintained baby grand piano, friendly staff and a cheeseburger that will kill you it's so good. Not to mention the fact that they're widely known for their wonderful steaks.

featuring the great  multiinstrumentalist

 Ira Sullivan

Don't miss this legend !   He's always great !

My first performance with Ira was in 1993 and played with him  many times since.

I first saw him perform to a packed house around 1976 in Ft. Lauderdale Fla. at

'Bubba's'. (w/ Guy Viveros drums, Conti Milano bass, Eddie Higgins piano)

Here's some bio....

Sullivan is that rare thing, a true multi-instrumentalist, capable of improvising statements of worth on all his instruments. He was taught trumpet by his father, saxophone by his mother and played both in 50s Chicago with such seminal figures as Charlie “Bird” Parker, Lester Young, Wardell Gray and Roy Eldridge, garnering a reputation as a fearsome bebop soloist. After playing briefly with Art Blakey (1956), and mastering alto and baritone saxophone, Sullivan moved south to Florida and out of the spotlight in the early 60s. His reluctance to travel limited his opportunities to play with musicians of the first rank, but Sullivan continued to play in the Miami area, often in schools and churches. Contact with local younger players, notably Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny led to teaching and to a broadening of his own musical roots to include the lessons of John Coltrane's music and elements of jazz rock. With the addition of flute and soprano saxophone to his armoury, Sullivan moved to New York and in 1980 formed a quintet with legendary bop trumpeter Red Rodney. Resisting the temptation to follow current trends and play the music of their youth, Sullivan and Rodney worked on new material and fostered young talent to produce some fresh and stimulating music.

'Don't Wake The Kids'

A small masterpiece waiting to be discovered. Scott Earl Holman touches every key with pure magic. The bass & drums embrace the melody & rhythms with sensitivity and grace. 'FAITH AND WORKS'

Another gem from Scott Earl Holman. This 2009 release has an edge that comes out of the colaboration with Paul Wertico (drums) and Larry Gray (bass). The energy between the players and during their solos is blistering. These musicians are risk takers. So hang on and take the ride! new review from Dr. Tobias Bocker (Germany) _ JAZZ PLATFORM - January 21, 2010

The following is an english translation using free online translator the original german article is below the english. Thank you Dr. Bocker for you kind words.....

(article) Tobias Böcker for jazz platform, Germany Augsburger Allgemeine, Jazz Podium, Jazzzeitung _ jazz platform, jazz newspaper 2009-11-22 04:02:01 His first studio CD since the highly praised 1997 (again recently reissued) disc "Don't Wake The kids" is faithful to the quiet tones. Larry Gray at the bass and Paul Wertico at the percussion celebrated jointly with Holman on "Faith And communication piano trio jazz pursuing the higher cause", touching, humanly, vulnerable and in a very personal statement of the participants. Only slightly over three hours that three were in the studio, without samples, without arrangements, without any preproduction, however in the confidence on the intuitive power of mutual listening. The determination "This is jazz for the next century" is carried in no way presumptuously – the deep authenticity of the music wipes every suspicion relating to this aside... Scott you have definitely produced an incredible companion to your first cd we received. "Faith And Works" is a broody, moody master piece of exploratory Jazz. Adventurous and extremely engaging, ably led by your exquisite piano, add to that Larry Gray and Paul Wertico and we have an electric combination exploring the boundaries Then redefining them. At times time stood still and notes were suspended in space adding to the tension and emotion of this cd, all in all a brilliant cd. Bravo on a wonderfully stylish album. Due to your generosity we have four copies of your cd, the allocations have been made to the following specialist shows ...........

1. Roots Of Rhythm ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Helen Jennings, Wednesday 9 to 11am.
